🔹 National Economic & Policy Developments

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) slashed its key repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.25%. This marks the most aggressive monetary easing since 2019. Alongside, RBI announced open market bond purchases worth ₹1 trillion, plus a $5 billion dollar-rupee forex swap to boost banking liquidity. Banking and bond market liquidity is expected to receive a significant short-term boost.

  • The move follows an exceptionally favorable macroeconomic environment: retail inflation remains very low, and economic growth prospects remain robust. The RBI has also raised the full-year GDP growth forecast to 7.3%, while lowering inflation projections.

  • Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s Finance Minister, reaffirmed confidence that Indian economy will grow at least 7% in the current fiscal year. She cited strong domestic fundamentals — resilient consumer demand, low inflation, and recent tax cuts — as supporting factors. The revised GDP growth number comes on the back of Q2 growth of 8.2%, driven by strong festive season demand and pre-emptive production.

  • Looking ahead, Sitharaman flagged a comprehensive overhaul of India’s customs system as the next big reform push. The aim is to simplify trade procedures, reduce logistics costs, and improve ease of doing business — a relevant point for trade, export-import banking and commerce-related competitive exams.

Why this matters for banking/competitive exams: Understanding the macroeconomic environment, monetary policy stance, and structural reforms (like customs overhaul) is crucial for economy sections in prelims and mains. Recent RBI actions affect liquidity, credit flow, bond yields — relevant for banking awareness.

🔹 Trade, Global Economic Environment & External Risks

  • Despite global headwinds including rising tariffs internationally and a weakening rupee, the Indian economy’s fundamentals remain resilient according to government statements. Export competitiveness may benefit from rupee depreciation — a useful factor for trade-related questions.

  • Global economic uncertainties continue to persist, but internal demand, monetary support, and structural reforms offer a cushion. This contrast between internal stability and external risk makes for an important conceptual angle for exam essays or analysis-based questions.

🔹 Aviation Sector & Regulatory Intervention: Airline Crisis

  • Domestic air travel in India faces turbulence: one of the country’s major airlines, IndiGo, saw over 800 flights cancelled in just a few days, disrupting travel for thousands. The problem continued into a fifth day even after the airline claimed 95% network connectivity was restored.

  • In response, the government intervened: fare caps on domestic flights have been imposed, and directives given to clear all pending passenger refunds. Regulatory steps also include ensuring baggage return and refund deadlines.

  • This development is relevant for general awareness: for competitive exams focusing on civil aviation policy, regulatory interventions, consumer protection — this is a timely case study.

🔹 State-Level Economic Strategy: Long-Term Vision & Investment Push

  • The upcoming Telangana Rising-2047 Global Summit — scheduled for 8–9 December at Bharat Future City, Hyderabad — will unveil the state’s long-term development roadmap. The summit aims to showcase plans to build a $3 trillion economy for the state by 2047.

  • The summit involves global leaders, industrialists, experts, policymakers and economists. A key deliverable is the “Vision Document” prepared with support from prominent institutions. While primarily economic and developmental in nature, such state-level initiatives have broader implications for trade, investment, employment generation, and future banking/finance sector growth.

  • For students preparing for state-specific exams (or even national ones), understanding the goals and significance of such summits helps with polity, governance, economy, and state-affairs sections.

🔹 Health & Social Sector — International Collaboration in Emergency Care

  • The World Resuscitation Congress 2025 (WRC 2025) was inaugurated in Madurai, with over 400 delegates from more than 20 countries participating. The Congress focuses on “Bridging Borders for Better Resuscitation” and aims at improving emergency care and survival outcomes globally.

  • The event involves life-saving workshops, academic sessions, and cross-country knowledge exchange. Important for aspirants preparing for social sector, public health, or general awareness portions — this showcases India’s growing role in hosting global health forums, capacity building, and emphasis on equitable health access.

🔹 Sports & Youth / International Sports Events

  • Globally, the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games began on 7 December 2025 in Dubai — featuring around 1,500 athletes from 45 nations. The Games will run through 14 December and include 11 sports disciplines. This forms part of India’s broader engagement with international para-sport events.

  • In India, the 2025 Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup — a major under-21 international field hockey tournament — is underway. Hosting such global events underscores India’s growing capacity in sports infrastructure and youth sports promotion.

  • On the domestic front, a 3-day MP-MLA sports competition has begun in Maharajpur, Uttar Pradesh. Spanning 11 sports disciplines (athletics, volleyball, kabaddi, football, judo, tug-of-war, kho-kho, badminton, wrestling, weightlifting, chess) and multiple age categories, this event reflects grassroots-level promotion of sports — a useful touchpoint for questions related to sports policy, rural development plus youth engagement in competitive exams.

🔹 Culture & Social Events

  • The cultural festival Deshaj 2025 held at Ram Manohar Lohia Park in Lucknow celebrated India’s rich folk heritage through vibrant performances by over 300 artists. Folk dances from across states — Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Mizoram, Gujarat — highlighted cultural diversity and unity in India.

  • Such events often find place in general awareness, culture, and society sections of competitive exams, where awareness of India’s diversity and state-wise culture is tested.
