SBI Clerk 2026: Junior Associate Exam Pattern, Eligibility, Vacancies & Preparation

Updated for the 2026–27 SBI Junior Associate recruitment cycle. State Bank of India recruits Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales), commonly called SBI Clerk. For 2026–27, SBI issued Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17. Online applications were accepted from 11 August to 31 August 2026; the recruitment is now closed for fresh applications. Selection Process

1. Preliminary Examination: Online objective test used for shortlisting.
2. Main Examination: The principal merit-deciding written stage.
3. Local Language Test: Candidates who need to demonstrate proficiency in the specified language for the State/UT must qualify before joining, unless exempt through accepted academic language proof.

Each section is separately timed. Negative marking applies for objective questions as prescribed in the recruitment notice.

Main Exam: What Candidates Should Prepare

The Main Examination tests General/Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. Candidates should prepare current banking and economic developments alongside static concepts. Because sectional timing is strict, preparation should combine accuracy with controlled speed.

High-value preparation areas

• General/Financial Awareness: RBI, monetary policy, banking terms, government schemes, financial institutions, budget and recent current affairs.
• English: Reading comprehension, error detection, cloze tests, vocabulary, sentence rearrangement and grammar.
• Reasoning: Puzzles, seating arrangement, syllogism, inequality, coding-decoding, blood relations and logical reasoning.
• Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic, data interpretation, simplification, number series, percentage, ratio, averages, profit and loss, time-work and time-distance.

Local Language Proficiency

SBI requires candidates to be proficient in the specified opted local language of the State/UT for which they apply. Where the candidate has acceptable Class 10 or Class 12 evidence of having studied the specified language, the separate language test may not be required. Candidates should read the 2026–27 notification for the exact language and exemption conditions applicable to their chosen State/UT.

Salary and Career

The notified starting basic pay for graduate entrants is ₹26,730, with the applicable clerical-cadre pay scale and allowances. Actual monthly emoluments vary with posting location and admissible benefits. A Junior Associate can build a long-term banking career through internal promotion opportunities and departmental processes.

How to Prepare for SBI Clerk 2026

1. Complete one timed Prelims set every day and analyse mistakes.
2. Read banking and current-affairs updates daily; do not postpone General/Financial Awareness until the end.
3. Maintain short revision sheets for formulas, vocabulary and banking terms.
4. Practise with the same sectional time limits used in the exam.
5. For Mains, increase emphasis on financial awareness, current banking developments and full-length mocks.

The 2026–27 recruitment should not be confused with the 2025–26 Junior Associate cycle.
