World Circular Economy Forum 2026 in India: Gandhinagar Edition, Theme, Data and Exam Relevance

India hosted the World Circular Economy Forum 2026 (WCEF2026) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, bringing circular-economy policy, business, finance and innovation into one international platform. What happened?

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel were associated with the opening programme. PIB reported around 2,700 delegates and 260 speakers from more than 60 countries at the forum.
Why it matters
A circular economy seeks to retain the value of products, components and materials for as long as possible and reduce waste and resource loss. It is broader than recycling: product design, repair, reuse, remanufacturing, efficient material flows and recovery are all part of the concept.
For India, circularity is relevant to urban waste, plastics, e-waste, industrial materials, water, construction and Extended Producer Responsibility. It also intersects with the transition toward resource-efficient growth.
