The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam annually for recruitment to posts like Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA), Sorting Assistant (SA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO). The exam is conducted in two tiers.

  • : Computer-Based Test (CBT)

  • : 60 minutes

  • :

    • General Intelligence: 25 questions, 50 marks

    • General Awareness: 25 questions, 50 marks

    • Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions, 50 marks

    • English Language: 25 questions, 50 marks

  • : 100 questions, 200 marks

  • : +2 for each correct answer; -0.5 for incorrect answers.

  • : Computer-Based Test

  • :

    • Session I:

      • Section I: Mathematical Abilities & Reasoning (30+30 questions, 180 marks)

      • Section II: English Comprehension & General Awareness (40+20 questions, 180 marks)

      • Section III: Computer Knowledge Module (15 questions, 45 marks)

      • Duration: Each section is allotted specific time slots.

    • Session II:

      • Skill Test/Typing Test for specific posts.

      • Typing Speed Requirements:

        • LDC/JSA/PA/SA: Typing speed of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi.

        • DEO: Data entry speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour.
