National News

  • The Indian Air Force launched “Operation Sindoor,” conducting precision airstrikes on nine terrorist camps inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK). This was in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 Indian and one Nepali tourist. The operation is notable as the first cross-border strike since 1971, targeting major terrorist hideouts in Lahore, Bahawalpur, and PoK. India also suspended postal services to Pakistan, closed the Attari-Wagah border, and revoked visas for Pakistani nationals.

  • Civil defence drills, including air sirens in schools, hospitals, and markets, were conducted nationwide to enhance preparedness and signal India’s readiness for any escalation.

  • The Indian government continued to push for the designation of The Resistance Front (TRF), a Pakistan-based terror group, in the United Nations 1267 committee.

International News

  • The 4th IUCN World Environmental Law Congress concluded in Rabat, Morocco, focusing on global environmental law and sustainable development.

  • India inaugurated the 12th Global Space Exploration Conference (GLEX 2025) in New Delhi. The event, running from 7th to 9th May, saw participation from over 1,800 delegates, including 233 international representatives from 36 countries.   • A state-of-the-art 8-bedded upgraded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was inaugurated at Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab.
