Candidate-action update | SSC corrigendum dated 26 October 2026

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) revised the proposed examination dates for two 2026 recruitment examinations through a corrigendum dated 26 October 2026, reference HQ-EC033/7/2025-EC. The change affects Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2026 Paper-I and the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination 2026. The first revised JE window begins on 2 November 2026.

Revised schedule at a glance

ExaminationMode / stageRevised proposed dates
Junior Engineer Examination 2026Paper-I, Computer Based Examination (CBE)2–6 November 2026 and 30 November–1 December 2026
Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination 2026CBE23–28 November 2026

The corrigendum revises the schedule communicated in SSC’s Important Notice dated 1 October 2026. The dates are described as proposed/revised dates; candidates should follow any later SSC notice and the date, shift and reporting time shown in their own Admission Certificate.

SSC JE Paper-I: examination starts today

The first Paper-I window runs from Monday, 2 November to Friday, 6 November 2026. A second window is scheduled for 30 November and 1 December 2026. The Commission’s 23 October notice addressed examination-city information and Admission Certificates for Paper-I. City information and the Admission Certificate are not interchangeable: the certificate contains the personal venue and reporting instructions.

Registered candidates should:

  1. Sign in through the official SSC website or the relevant regional portal.
  2. Confirm the exact date and shift allotted to their application; do not assume every candidate sits on the first day.
  3. Download and read the complete Admission Certificate, including centre address, reporting/entry time, photo-ID requirements and prohibited items.
  4. Plan travel using the centre address and arrive within the permitted reporting window.
  5. Keep checking the Commission’s Notice Board for any further change or candidate instruction.

The tentative vacancy list for SSC JE 2026 was reported as 1,748 posts in the 8 October notice. That is a tentative vacancy figure, not a final appointment total, and it does not change the revised examination schedule.

SSC SI Delhi Police/CAPF 2026: November CBE

The Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination 2026 is now proposed for 23–28 November 2026 in Computer Based Examination mode. The corrigendum is a date revision for registered applicants; it is not a new recruitment advertisement or an extension of the application window. Candidates should watch for the separate city-intimation and Admission Certificate notice from SSC/Regional Offices.

Do not confuse this with SSC CPO 2025 Paper-II

A separate SSC notice dated 29 October 2026 declared PET/PST results for the 2025 SI recruitment cycle. It reported 10,676 candidates qualified for Paper-II, tentatively scheduled for 28 November 2026. That is a different cohort and stage from the 2026 SI CBE scheduled for 23–28 November. Candidates must read the examination year in every notice before acting.

Where to verify

Bottom line: JE Paper-I’s first window begins 2 November; the second window is 30 November–1 December. SSC SI 2026 CBE is 23–28 November. Use the official corrigendum and your own Admission Certificate for final personal instructions.
