2. 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave 2026

The 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave (KEC 2026) is being held in New Delhi from 3 to 5 October 2026 under the theme “Resilience in an Age of Flux”. It is organised by the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) in partnership with the Ministry of Finance.

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan delivered the inaugural address. The conclave brings together policymakers, economists, academics, financial experts and international participants to discuss global fragmentation, technology, trade, finance and India’s economic priorities.

Static GK connection: The Institute of Economic Growth was founded in 1952 by economist V. K. R. V. Rao.

3. Green Energy Corridor Phase-III: ₹1,86,405 Crore Grid & Storage Plan

The Union Cabinet approved Green Energy Corridor Phase-III (GEC-III) on 30 September 2026. The scheme will strengthen intra-state transmission so that up to 135 GW of renewable energy can be evacuated across States and Union Territories. It also provides for 50 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The total outlay is ₹1,86,405 crore, including ₹1,36,378 crore for intra-state transmission and ₹50,000 crore for BESS, with implementation targeted by FY 2032–33.

4. World Teachers’ Day 2026: 60 Years of the 1966 Recommendation

World Teachers’ Day is observed every year on 5 October. In 2026, UNESCO marks the 60th anniversary of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.

The 2026 theme is “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures.” UNESCO’s 2026 focus highlights teacher status, professional recognition, working conditions and emerging pressures linked to digital technologies, climate change, inclusion, migration and displacement.

Exam angle: Remember the date (5 October), the 1966 Recommendation, UNESCO and the 2026 theme.

5. People’s Plan Campaign 2026–27

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is continuing participatory planning through the People’s Plan Campaign (PPC) – “Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas”. The campaign is designed to strengthen Gram Panchayat Development Plans through participation of local communities and Gram Sabhas.

For competitive exams, connect this initiative with the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, which gave constitutional status to Panchayati Raj Institutions and added the Eleventh Schedule.

6. Fugitive Tracking and Asset Attachment: Key Numbers

Recent government updates on fugitive tracking have highlighted coordinated action against economic offenders and the use of financial investigation tools. For exam preparation, important figures should be remembered only alongside the source and reporting period because these numbers are periodically updated.

One widely cited government update reported that 288 fugitives from 36 countries had been brought back to India between 2019 and August 2026, while assets worth about ₹17,874 crore had been attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
