The PM Vishwakarma Scheme completes three years on 17 September 2026, the date on which the programme was launched in 2023. The latest implementation figures show how the scheme has moved from registration into skill development, credit support and toolkit distribution for traditional artisans and craftspeople.

What PM Vishwakarma Covers
The programme provides an end-to-end support structure for artisans working in 18 identified traditional trades. It includes recognition through certificates and identity cards, skill upgradation, toolkit incentives, credit support, incentives for digital transactions and marketing assistance.
The design is significant because traditional artisans often operate at micro scale and depend on inherited occupational skills. The scheme therefore combines recognition of the occupation with modern training, equipment, finance and access to markets.
30 Lakh Beneficiaries Complete Verification
The government reports that 30 lakh beneficiaries have been registered after completing the prescribed three-stage verification process. This is different from simply counting initial applications because the reported milestone represents beneficiaries who have progressed through the scheme’s verification mechanism.
24.50 Lakh Artisans Receive Skill Training
Around 24.50 lakh Vishwakarmas have received Basic Skill Training through the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
The training number shows that the programme has moved beyond enrolment. The intervention focuses on strengthening occupational skills and enabling artisans to combine established craft knowledge with improved production practices.
₹5,297 Crore of Loan Support
The credit component has reached 6.18 lakh Vishwakarmas, with loan support amounting to ₹5,297 crore. The loans are provided at a 5% annual concessional interest rate, with support of up to ₹1 lakh under the component described by the government.
For a micro artisan, working capital can determine whether production remains a small household activity or expands into a more regular enterprise. Access to formal credit can therefore influence raw-material purchases, tool replacement and production capacity.
18.15 Lakh Modern Toolkits Delivered
The government has delivered 18.15 lakh modern toolkits, using India Post including doorstep delivery. The toolkit intervention is directly connected with the production process because it provides improved equipment with which artisans can apply their skills.
The distinction between training and toolkit assistance is useful: training improves methods and skills, while the toolkit changes the physical resources available to carry out the work.
West Bengal Joins the Implementation Framework
West Bengal joined the implementation framework of PM Vishwakarma in May 2026. The government reports that 3,000 beneficiaries in the state had successfully registered after the three-stage verification process, with skill training underway.
The third-anniversary programme in Kolkata is being held at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium, where certificates, training certificates, loan certificates and toolkits are being distributed. An exhibition is also being organised to showcase traditional products and provide opportunities for display and sale.
Why the Scheme Is Important for the Micro-Enterprise Economy
PM Vishwakarma sits at the intersection of livelihood support, vocational training, micro-enterprise development and financial inclusion. Traditional artisans can face difficulties in accessing formal credit, better tools and wider markets. A programme that combines these elements can address several barriers at the same time.
The latest figures should therefore be read together: 30 lakh verified registrations, 24.50 lakh trained artisans, 6.18 lakh loan beneficiaries and 18.15 lakh toolkit deliveries. Each figure measures a different part of programme implementation.
