SSC MTS & Havaldar Additional Result 2026: 542 Shortlisted for PET/PST, Candidature Withheld

SSC MTS Havaldar Additional Result 2026

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued an additional result for the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination, 2025. The notice is dated 7 October 2026 and deals with candidates whose Computer Based Examination results had not been processed in the original result because of suspected malpractice-related issues.

What happened?

SSC has now processed the results of 727 candidates whose CBE results were earlier not processed. From that group, 542 candidates have been shortlisted for the Havaldar PET/PST stage. However, the important qualification is that the candidature of all 542 remains withheld because of the ongoing concerns relating to suspicious activities/malpractices.

In addition, the results of 15 candidates have been kept in sealed cover because police investigation is pending. This means the additional result should not be interpreted as a clean final clearance for all candidates listed in the supplementary process.

Why it matters

This is an unusual result update because it combines numerical shortlisting with an explicit withheld status. Candidates need to understand the difference between being listed for a physical stage and receiving final clearance. Shortlisting for PET/PST does not remove the Commission’s investigation-related conditions.

Why were the 727 results not processed earlier?

The original result process had not processed the results of 727 candidates because of suspected malpractice-related issues in the CBE. Subsequently, partial relief granted by the Central Administrative Tribunal, Principal Bench (CAT-PB), led to the Commission processing these cases in accordance with its directions and the applicable examination rules.

The additional result therefore belongs to the same examination cycle; it is not a new recruitment examination.

What does “candidature withheld” mean?

For the 542 candidates, shortlisting for PET/PST should not be read as unconditional qualification. Their candidature remains withheld pending the Commission’s examination of the underlying issue. Candidates must follow the exact instructions in the official notice and should not assume that a PET/PST appearance by itself guarantees progression to document verification, medical examination or appointment.

What about the 15 sealed-cover cases?

The Commission has kept the results of 15 candidates in sealed cover because police investigation is pending. Their position is therefore different from the 542 candidates whose candidature is withheld for suspected activities/malpractices. Candidates should read the official list and notice rather than relying on screenshots or copied roll-number lists on social media.

How to check the additional result

  1. Visit the official SSC website.
  2. Open the Results section.
  3. Find the MTS and Havaldar Examination 2025 additional-result notice dated 7 October 2026.
  4. Open the associated result list.
  5. Search the PDF for your roll number.
  6. Read the accompanying write-up, not just the shortlist.
  7. Save both official documents.

Next stage

The additional shortlist relates to the Havaldar PET/PST stage. Candidates should wait for the Commission’s specific schedule and instructions rather than assuming that the previous August schedule automatically applies to the additional candidates.

Background: MTS and Havaldar examination

SSC MTS recruitment covers Multi-Tasking Staff roles at the central-government level, while the Havaldar component has a physical stage because the post has additional physical requirements. This is why a CBE result for Havaldar is followed by PET/PST rather than proceeding directly to appointment.

The additional result also demonstrates an important examination principle: a result document can contain multiple candidate statuses, and “shortlisted”, “withheld” and “sealed cover” are not interchangeable terms.
