Twenty NCC girl cadets selected from across India have successfully completed the Aparajita–Parang La 2026 high-altitude trek. The expedition covered about 250 km in 30 days and crossed the Parang La Pass at 5,578 metres, connecting the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh with the Changthang region of Ladakh.

The expedition was flagged off by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on 18 August 2026. The team was flagged in at Karzok, Ladakh, on 16 September 2026 by Lt Gen Virendra Vats, Director General NCC, along with Dipti Mohil Chawla, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence.
The expedition involved 20 NCC girl cadets and a support team of officers, instructors, medical staff and other personnel. The route passed through glaciers, snowfields and river valleys, providing exposure to demanding high-altitude conditions.

Background: National Cadet Corps
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a youth organisation associated with the Ministry of Defence. It operates through Army, Navy and Air Force wings and gives students exposure to discipline, leadership, teamwork, community service, camps and adventure activities.
