RRB Technician Admit Card 2026 is the key document for candidates appearing in the Railway Recruitment Board Technician CBT under CEN 02/2026. The examination covers Technician Grade-I Signal and Technician Grade-III posts, and the CBT is scheduled from 6 to 9 October 2026. The exam city and date intimation facility has already been released in phases, so candidates should now concentrate on their individual examination date, city, e-Call Letter and entry requirements.
What is the current status?
The Railway Recruitment Boards released the exam city and date intimation slip from 27 September 2026. This facility tells a candidate the allotted city and examination date. It is not the same as the final e-Call Letter.
The e-Call Letter is the operational document for examination-day entry. It carries the candidate’s examination centre and reporting information. Current guidance places its release at around four days before the individual examination date, so candidates whose CBT is on 6 October should be checking the portal from approximately 2 October onward.
The distinction is important because a candidate can know the exam city without yet having the final centre instructions. Do not make travel assumptions from the city slip alone.

Why the admit card matters more than the city slip
The city-intimation stage is primarily a planning facility. A candidate may receive a city that requires overnight travel or substantial local transport. Seeing it early allows that planning to begin. The e-Call Letter then provides the details required for the actual examination journey.
This is why candidates should treat the two documents as separate checkpoints:
| Document | Purpose | What it does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| City/date intimation slip | Shows allotted exam city and exam date | Does not replace the e-Call Letter |
| E-Call Letter | Provides centre, reporting and entry instructions | Should be checked against the latest RRB instructions |
How to download the RRB Technician e-Call Letter
- Open the official RRB application portal or the regional RRB website through which your application is being serviced.
- Open the CEN 02/2026 Technician section.
- Select the e-Call Letter / admit-card link when it is activated for your examination date.
- Enter the registration or login details requested by the portal.
- Check the displayed candidate details, examination date, centre and reporting instructions.
- Download the PDF and keep both a digital copy and a printed copy.
6,557-post recruitment: understand the two technician levels
The CEN 02/2026 recruitment is not one single post. It contains 323 Technician Grade-I Signal posts and 6,234 Technician Grade-III posts. The difference matters because the qualification, pay level and trade requirements are not identical.
The detailed CEN also sets out the wider recruitment framework, including medical fitness, educational qualifications, reservation, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities provisions, scribe/compensatory-time arrangements, the CBT, document verification and medical examination. Candidates should therefore retain the original notification rather than depending solely on a short admit-card article.
Important Aadhaar and identity checks
Railway recruitment instructions have placed particular emphasis on identity verification. Candidates who used Aadhaar during application should make sure their Aadhaar information is in a usable state before reaching the centre. The examination process may include Aadhaar-based authentication/biometric verification.
Also verify the original photo identity document requirement against the individual call letter and the original application details. The RRB CEN instructs candidates to bring the same original photo-identity document mentioned in the application. A mismatch can create avoidable problems at entry.
What to check immediately after downloading the call letter
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Candidate name and photograph | Confirms the document belongs to you |
| Registration details | Ensures the correct application is being used |
| Exam date | Confirms the assigned day inside the 6–9 October window |
| Exam city and centre | Determines the actual travel destination |
| Reporting time | Late arrival can prevent entry |
| Photo ID instructions | Carry the required original identity document |
| Special instructions | Check undertakings, photograph or other requirements printed on the call letter |
Application status is a separate checkpoint
Candidates should also understand that the application-status facility and the admit card serve different purposes. Application status tells the candidate whether the submitted application has been accepted, conditionally accepted or rejected according to the recruitment process. It is not an admit card.
For CEN 02/2026, the application-status facility became available from 11 September 2026. A candidate who has not checked application status should do so before assuming that the availability of a city slip guarantees examination entry.
Exam-day logistics: what should be settled before the night before?
Once the call letter is downloaded, solve the practical issues rather than changing your entire preparation plan. Check the route to the centre, estimated travel time, alternate transport and a reasonable buffer for delays. Candidates assigned to another city should confirm their accommodation before the reporting day.
Keep the printed call letter and required original ID together. Keep a second digital copy in a secure place. Read the prohibited-item instructions on the actual call letter because these are more specific than generic “exam tips” found online.
Where the CBT fits in the recruitment process
The Technician recruitment does not end with the CBT. The detailed CEN provides for subsequent recruitment stages including Document Verification and Medical Examination, subject to the particular post and recruitment rules. That means candidates should not discard their application documents after the CBT.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Confusing the city-intimation slip with the final e-Call Letter.
- Travelling to the city without checking the exact centre address.
- Carrying a different identity document from the one recorded in the application without checking the rules.
- Ignoring Aadhaar/biometric requirements until the day of examination.
- Relying on unofficial social-media screenshots instead of the latest RRB notice.
